Abstract:

Our project was on hunger and food insecurity in the United States, with a focus on Coastal Georgia in particular. We created a PowerPoint presentation and creative writing piece to present to our class and members of CCGA. We were assigned a piece of fiction about hunger in our English class. We created a flyer and hung it around the CCGA campus to advertise our presentation. We then did research on our community partner, America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, to include in our presentation. We created another flyer to combat the stigma associated with hunger in Coastal Georgia and to advertise for our community partner. We hung these flyers around CCGA and the community. Our goal was to tie together our community partner and our topic of hunger with our assignments and research done within our English class. When we read our piece of literature we got a taste of how tragic hunger is, but when we did our research and went out into the community we realized how immense the issue actually is. Now that the community has knowledge of this issue, people may utilize our information and choose to help members of the community combat hunger.
