Abstract:
We created an event for staff and students ages 17 and up at the Coastal Georgia Campus Center presenting how spring break activities can lead to injuries; Identified a knowledge Deficit related to lack of resources and information on: Insect bites, Water safety, Sunburn, Heatstroke and Safe handling of Fireworks; Provided educational information and resources related to the areas identified in a fun delivery method. Education included a True/False fact game CPR demonstration, Q&A related to information, and eye catching props to engaged participants. All participants received a bag of printed information and various items such as water or Gatorade, sunscreen, bug repellant and a pool float. The goal was met when participants verbalized understanding of presented materials and a greater sense of ‘Fun in the Sun’ activities.
