Abstract:

Throughout the service-learning project we were able to gain knowledge in the care of dental hygiene in school-age children. During our presentation it was apparent that general knowledge and care of teeth was lacking. Working with the school nurse and the service-learning department enabled us to provide tools to help the children care for their teeth. We were able to take our knowledge of dental hygiene and create a presentation that was appropriate for the age group. As a group we felt we were able to provide age appropriate knowledge and tools so that the children can practice good dental hygiene at home.
