PreKindergarten Safety

Abstract:
Our group created four safety education presentations for the pre kindergarteners at FACES PreK Center. The purpose of our project was to educate the children by giving them the basic foundational knowledge needed to ensure their safety. In this teaching the stations implemented were fire, pedestrian, stranger and water safety. In an effort to be as fun and engaing as possible, various educational methods were used including teach back and interactive games. All four presentations were designed to coincide with the children's developmental level and their innate urge to explore. As student nurses, our hope is that the teaching will impact the students beyond the classroom and better prepare them for lifes challenges.
