Key Partnerships:
As an early adopter of service-learning teaching at the College, Dr. Jim Fullerton began teaching service-learning courses in the fall of 2011. He was the recipient of the inaugural Excellence in Service-Learning Outstanding Faculty Award in 2013. Dr. Fullerton has reached over 330 students through service-learning and has fostered a plethora of impactful, student-led service-learning projects. Dr. Fullerton is a strong advocate of learning through experience, which he incorporates into all of his leadership courses. The action-reflection experiential learning model promotes the construction of knowledge from within, rather than simply receiving knowledge from others. Service-learning is a perfect match for this approach, which benefits both the student and the community.
“Dr. Fullerton has been one of the most consistent contributors to and supporters of the service-learning program since the College began to emphasize this form of teaching and experiential learning in 2011. This consistent commitment is not only recognized, but celebrated. Thank you Jim!”
