In Dr. Jessica Melilli-Hands courses, she strives to connect literature with community needs to promote awareness of various topics. In her service-learning projects, she has asked students to complete projects centered on creating awareness on issues such as domestic violence, disabilities, hunger, and more. Through these projects, students are given the chance to research topics spread awareness to their peers and the local community. Dr. Melilli-Hand has taught service-learning courses since fall of 2017 and reached more than 200 students throughout her time doing so.
