Since 2016, Professor Nevada LeCounte has been teaching service-learning designated courses to Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) students. In 2017, she presented the ASN service-learning series model at the Gulf South Summit for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education. Professor LeCounte also participated as a panelist in a discussion of the College’s service-learning program at the annual Coastal Scholar’s Showcase.

“Nevada is a great colleague to work with on service-learning (S-L). She drives to the students to have realistic ideas that are meaningful to their respective settings that also connect to course, program, and S-L outcomes. Nevada and the Nursing 4 team presented at GANE in February 2020 about the students' S-L projects and it was well-received by the attendants who even stated that we were able to implement quality improvement through these mini-projects, which is hard to do with nursing students.”
