Abstract:

We created an asset map for the United Way of Coastal Georgia for our Senior Capstone Practicum in Psychology course. An asset map is a guide to resources and opportunities for the youth and their parents in our area. Our group contacted over 300 organizations including schools, parks and recreation, churches, health services, and other non-profit organizations. We created a detailed listing of the purpose of each organization, how they benefit adults and teens, addresses, as well as phone numbers and email addresses of contacts. People now turn to the internet instead of a phone book; therefore, we created this list using Google Maps Engine-Pro. Each Organization is mapped with pinpoints identifying its location. The map can be found at https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=z9D-K4UW1XDI.k8EbvvxzzmLs We also created a QR code for easy access by smart phones. The code can be placed on United Way of Coastal Georgia’s website, school websites, Facebook pages, or posted around schools. Our goal was to create a living document for United Way to use and maintain. We hope this resource will help the youth of Coastal Georgia easily access this important information for years to come.
