Give a Little More: ASB Peer Leadership at College of Coastal Georgia

Abstract:
This year we had an idea to implement peer leaders into our Alternative Spring Break. We wanted to be able to break apart into groups and accomplish more, and we figured we could do that with reliable people who have served with us before. These peer leaders did not just need to be reliable, they needed to be dependable and they also needed to be role models. We chose students who would motivate others academically and during service work. This idea worked out in a big way in Pensacola, we were able to pull up about 1000 cubic feet of rebarred concrete; while another group primed and painted a commercial building. ASB accomplished so much this year thanks to Pls and the peer leaders led on site as well as reflections. Seeing how this panned out hopefully next year there can have two ASB locations and more peer leaders.
