Abstract:

The Coastal Pines Adult Education Center in Brunswick, Georgia serves the educational needs of adults going back to school to earn a GED. We aimed to educate the students in this program on topics relative to their current situations and needs. We achieved this outcome by first determining the topics of most interest and importance to the students, and then designed a presentation focusing on study tips, the importance of sleep and stress management, nutrition, and community resources for healthcare and support. The information was well received and the audience was receptive to our ideas and showed interest by asking many questions. To further support their educational endeavors, our group was granted a Service Learning grant of $180 that we are donating to the facility to cover the cost of practice graduation exams.
