Creating the Engebretsen Archive Project: The Mighty Thor

Abstract:
The Engebretsen collection of 350 comics, magazines, and books was donated to the college last year. The collection dates from the 1960s and includes many historically significant volumes, especially from the early Marvel era. This spring the students of AMST 3740 American Popular Culture have created a digital home for the collection, indexing it, getting estimates of its value from local partners, and presenting it online in a way that facilitates research. This presentation, by two of the students involved, outlines that process. Additional posters presented by the five editorial groups in the project get into specific detail on the characters, creators, and cultural interest of these books.
