Tutorials for Online Library Resources

Limiters or filters allow you to fine-tune or tweak the results of your database search. You will usually find them on the search page before you begin your search, and/or on the search results page. Use limiters to specify what you need.

Examples of these options include:

  • Format or Type (books, eBooks, magazines, reviews)
  • Location (in the library)
  • Availability
  • Full Text
  • Scholar (Peer-Reviewed) Journals
  • Year of Publication
  • Language

Most databases will have these options and more, but the way they look and their location on the page may vary from database to database.
