Research Paper Basics

What is a Literature Review?

A Literature Review is a summary and analysis of the published work on a particular topic. While it is usually part of a research paper, your professor may assign it as a standalone paper. A Literature Review illustrates that you have studied your topic, contrasted and compared the published research, and identified trends and gaps. Talk to your professor about the format and expectations for your assignment.
