Research Paper Basics: Literature Review

What is a Literature Review?

A Literature Review is a summary and analysis of the published work on a particular topic. While it is usually part of a research paper, your professor may assign it as a standalone paper. A Literature Review illustrates that you have studied your topic, contrasted and compared the published research, and identified trends and gaps. Talk to your professor about the format and expectations for your assignment.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center provides one-on-one in-depth writing coaching for students, faculty, and staff at the College of Coastal Georgia.

During coaching sessions, Writing Center staff work on developing writing skills by teaching writers about patterns of errors, expectations in writing styles, and what it means to be a writer at the college level.

The Writing Center is in Room 117 in Gould Memorial Library on the Brunswick campus.
