Find Articles Online

Always search GALILEO first.

If you are searching off campus, login to GALILEO through the library's catalog. Click the GALILEO tab. (Some databases are difficult to access if you try to go through D2L.) Do your search on campus for best results.

After you find a source you want, look at the article record in GALILEO. You might find a link to the article in the record. This is common for articles in JSTOR or Dissertation Abstracts.

If you don't find the full-text article in GALILEO, search the internet before you submit an ILL request. There are so many articles online for free.

Remember to put the title of the article in the search box with quotation marks. This is called "phrase searching," and it tells the search engine to keep those words together in that exact order.

Finding Books

Searching the Catalog

First, search the Coastal library's catalog. If you don't find the book there, try expanding your search to include other USG institutions. Change the drop-down menu in the search box from "College of Coastal Georgia" to "University System of Georgia."

If the book is available at another USG institution, you can request it. Be sure to sign in to your account first (upper right corner of the catalog home page). Ask a librarian if you need help requesting a book.

Public Libraries

The book you need might be available at a Georgia public library. Search the PINES catalog for books at your nearby library or request them from other public libraries participating in the PINES system. You will need a library card to check out materials.

Books Online

Finally, do a Google search with the title of the book in quotation marks (phrase searching). Some books are digitized and available online free of charge.
