Course Reserves are materials such as books, films, textbooks, and other documents that the library has set aside at the request of course instructors. These materials are usually required or recommended for specific courses.
Course Reserves materials must be requested at the library's Help Desk, and may be checked out for two hours for use inside the library.
If you do not know the specific title of the item you need, check your course syllabus or search Course Reserves in GIL-Find, the library's online catalog. In GIL-Find, change the drop-down menu on the search window from GIL-Find to Course Reserves.
Then, search by:
A library staff member will retrieve the item from the Course Reserves located at the Help Desk. (Materials are arranged on the shelves by Call Number.)
Remember, most materials may be checked out for two hours, but may not leave the library.
The following definitions might be helpful to you as you search for Course Reserves materials in GIL-Find:
Author/Creator -- Refers to the author or creator of the book or item on reserve.
Circulation Desk -- Refers to the main library help desk where reserve materials are kept.
Course Name -- Refers to the class (not the subject) such as ENGL 1101.
Course Instructor -- Refers to the person (your instructor) who put the item on reserve. Check your course syllabus if you are unsure.
Course ID -- Refers to the five-digit number assigned to your specific class
GIL-Find is the library's online catalog, a tool to help you find books, journals, films, and other materials in the library's collection. Course Reserve materials are also in the catalog and can be searched by the title of the item, the author, the instructor's name, or the course number (for example, ENGL 1102).
Course Reserves are located at the library's Help Desk and are arranged on the shelves by Call Number.
