FOLIO Migration Guide

The library is migrating to FOLIO.

In November, College of Coastal Georgia Libraries and all libraries at USG institutions will begin migrating to FOLIO, an open-access library management system. This change will impact how you find and request library materials.

The GIL-Find catalog will have a new look, but you will still be able to search for materials in the library's collections, including books, journals, technology, board games, and more.

FOLIO is expected to go live on December 16, 2025. As we transition to the new system, some services will be limited or frozen, and once the migration is complete, links to items in the old version of GIL-Find will no longer work.

What does this mean for you?

The transition to FOLIO means that GIL-Find, the library catalog, will have a new look. Links to the older version of the catalog will break.

For instructors, catalog links embedded in D2L courses or elsewhere online will need to be updated once FOLIO is live.

For students, faculty, and staff, there will be changes and delays in accessing materials at Coastal and from other institutions in the University System of Georgia.

What do you need to do?

Before Nov. 19:

  • Return library materials checked out from other USG institutions (GIL Express). Bring them to the Library Help Desk to be checked in.
  • After Nov. 19, use Interlibrary Loan to request items from other USG institutions until the freeze is lifted.

After Dec. 16:

  • Instructors must replace all GIL-Find links with links after FOLIO goes live, or replace them with direct links to eBooks in academic databases. Database links and article links will still work.
  • Export your saved records or favorites in GIL-Find. They will be lost during the transition. Look for step-by-step instructions under the "Tips for Instructors" tab in the menu above.
  • You may continue to check out items from our library, however, if you currently have books out that you no longer need, please return them as soon as possible.
