Abstract:

For my service-learning project I decided to work with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful to take part in one of their marsh cleanups to do my part in combating the pollution our oceans are facing. Being able to help our oceans first hand was the most rewarding and enriching experience I could have asked for. It is important to get involved in the fight against pollution so we can save the precious gem that is our ocean, so to do my part I distributed flyers that I composed to spread the word about what Keep Golden Isles Beautiful is doing in order to protect our oceans. This project not only had an effect on me personally but it also had a lasting effect on the beautiful beaches of Brunswick. By taking part in this clean up I helped keep several pieces of trash from going into our oceans. This project has helped me broaden my knowledge and help me become an advocate for saving our oceans while also meeting course objectives such as learning to do proper background research, compose a paper, and avoid plagiarism. After completing this project I believe the best thing we can do is continue the fight against pollution for both the sake of our oceans and humanity.
