Keeping the Golden Isles Beautiful

Abstract:
For our service-learning project, we decided to partner with Brunswick’s own “Keep Golden Isles Beautiful” organization. Upon choosing to work with this organization, we were able to volunteer not only in clean-up efforts, but also with day-to-day tasks in the Keep Golden Isles Beautiful headquarters. When determining the connections between American Government and environmental efforts, we found that most local organizations rely heavily on their community for volunteer and financial support while receiving little to no help from the federal government. After volunteering with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, we both have become even more passionate about advocating and participating in local preservation and clean-up efforts. There is so much more that we as a community can do to make an impact not only here, but in areas all around the world.
