Abstract:
For my service-learning project, I teamed up with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful in one of their March Madness Cleanups at Mary Ross Park. I arrived at Mary Ross Park at around 1:00pm and was handed a vest, a trash grabber, and gloves. For the next two hours, I went around picking up trash in the park and surrounding areas. By working with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, it has opened my eyes to the amount of trash that has been left around my community. Sure, I see the trash left around in the open fields, but I never considered the amount of trash hidden behind bushes and in-between rocks. After the cleanup was over, I felt very satisfied with what my fellow community members, and I had done. I hope that through my poster I can encourage other members of my community to participate in cleanups, by showing them how it can be extremely easy and fun.

Abstract:
Our community partner was Keeping Golden Isles Beautiful. We chose to work with them because we wanted to persuade people who live in the Isles to know the importance of maintaining a clean, healthy, and stable environment. We included important topics such as volunteering, littering, and recycling. The impact was to tell us what can happen when you take care of the outside and to keep your environment looking spiffy. The relationship between our project and our Service-Learning outcomes was contributing the main points and focusing on the main ideas. People can now understand the concept of taking care of their environment.
