2022 Service-Learning Symposium: Coastal Georgia Clean Up

Coastal Georgia Clean Up

Faculty Supervisor: Anelise Farris, Ph.D.

Community Partner: Georgia Power Citizens-Brunswick Chapter & KGIB

Abstract:

For my project, I partnered with Georgia Power Citizens-Brunswick Chapter, KGIB and Georgia-Pacific Brunswick Cellulose Mill. I attended a marsh clean up event with other volunteers and assisted in cleaning up litter and trash around the area. This project impacted me through reflection as it made me reflect on how poorly humans treat our environment and the steps that need to be taken to help reduce litter. There’s no reason to throw our trash out when we can recycle and reuse many of the things we throw out. Our planet would thank us for it. My future plans are to participate in more community clean up events so I can do my part in helping create a cleaner planet for future generations.
