Dr. Nelbert St. Clair, or “Doc” for short, recently joined the College to build the Cyber Defense program.  In fall 2020, he is teaching his first six service-learning courses in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia. Through this partnership, Doc’s students are able to put their classroom learning to the test as they work to fill the information technology role of the local Boys & Girls Clubs.

Dr. Nelbert "Doc" St. Clair "has engaged with two different Glynn County organizations for service-learning partnerships. These partnerships allow the Cyber Defense students to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world projects. Through Dr. St. Clair's leadership, they have saved the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Georgia over $15,000 in labor cost (See news story here: https://www.ccga.edu/cf_news/view.cfm?newsid=726). Dr. St. Clair is also currently working with the STAR Foundation to bring cyber education to their current training programs for the community of Brunswick and develop permanent internship opportunities for his students."

- Dr. Heather Farley

“Doc St Clair is new to the College of Coastal Georgia and leads our efforts in Cyber Defense. Doc’s commitment to service-learning is one of the many ways he is connecting this program with the larger community external to the College. His ideas and the work of his students have been very impactful in Brunswick.”
