Abstract:

In this service-learning project. Myself and my group members, Partnered with The Well. The Well is a hospitality center for the homeless. As a whole we decided that a toiletry drive would best meet their needs. Working alongside this community organization directly hit home for me because my mom and siblings was homeless for nearly 10 years out on the street, going from shelter to shelter and getting by the best she could with little to no resources. I immediately signed up to volunteer with the organization since the first time I step foot in their facility. Bringing awareness to the community and helping the homeless is our main focus. The impact this project had on me is being profoundly grateful for what I have in life, and not taking anything for granted. This was so important for me to realize that at a snap of a finger that could be me and my children. Between the project and the service-learning outcome is I can develop as a life long learner.
