Abstract:

During the Spring 2021, I participated in twelve hours of service-learning at the Burroughs Molette Boys & Girls Club. During the time I was there, I had the opportunity to work with a few students one-on-one with their reading and writing using a Reader’s Notebook. Each of the students I worked with varied in their academic abilities. Each time I was able to spend with the students, I was able to see what they needed to improve on and how I could help them do it in the short period of time I was there. Using the strategies that I previously learned in my LITR 3020 class, I was able to teach my students these different strategies so they could become better readers and writers in the future.
