Digging Deeper into Writing about Reading

Abstract:
Digging Deeper into "Writing about Reading" has four components: Service-Learning Objectives, Community partner description, project description and personal reflection. The project allowed be to volunteer with a Boys and Girls club to gather data from students as they complete a reader’s notebook. The purpose of the notebook and project were to examine the research and theories related to the cognitive, linguistic, motivational, and sociocultural needs of learners and to create a supportive learning environment for students as they become more proficient readers and writers.
