A Teacher Candidates Perspective

I was at the Boys and Girls Club working with students who were writing about reading. Towards the end of the volunteer hours, students demonstrated some improvement in oral reading and writing. While participating in the after school program activities, we were able to get to know each other and discuss interests. During my time at the Boys and Girls Club, I was able to assess the students writing level firsthand using a new tool, the Reader’s Notebook. As a future educator, I will further pursue professional development to support student reading and writing development.
