Abstract:

Our focus group was the Brunswick High School Color Guard members. There was a need for education of proper dietary choices to increase energy levels and stamina during their performance season. To have a greater impact and appeal to the members we incorporated a wide variety of teaching methods. Our presentation format encouraged open communication and discussion to allow a more personal and non-judgemental atmosphere.

The topics discussed were pertinent to not only our audience but to the general population in informing the need of proper hydration and a well rounded diet that includes essential nutrients. This was important to us because it showed us how to bring awareness to the effects that compare the outcomes of a poor vs. a healthy diet and their effects on the body systems. Integrating nutrition and hydration will lead to improvements in performance, endurance, and an overall physical well being.
