Haven Hopkins
"As a teacher candidate, Haven went above and beyond to understand and meet the needs of PreK learners at the Boys and Girls Club. She was intentional about using quality research-based instructional strategies when she volunteered with these emerging readers. She integrated course content (using a Reader's Notebook) into an after-school setting with an exceptional attitude toward learning and growth. Her positive mindset, critical thinking and willingness to grow as she practiced her instructional approaches allowed her to shine as she completed this service-learning project."
