St. Marys Children's Theatre

St. Marys Children's Theatre

Emily Boyle's English 1102 class collaborated with the St. Marys Children’s Theatre in fall 2018. The St. Marys Children’s Theatre (SMCT) works to provide southeast Georgia with performing arts education to inspires and enhances the community. Students in Boyle's class explored how the arts help build a community, not just in theater, but through music, visual arts, film, and literature. Students in this course completed critical studies on the social, political, and economic impact of various texts. Directors from SMCT visited the class periodically to discuss their operations and overall vision of engaging children in creative activities. The SMCT director created with a list of their needs and asked students in the course to fill them. Projects included ticket sales, costume design, promotion, and technical work.
