Edith Gonzalez

In the fall of 2018, Edith was a part of Emily Boyle's ENGL 1102 course where the class partnered with the local St. Marys Childrens Theatre (SMCT). SMCT serves students age 5 to 18 in Glynn and Camden counties. Students in the course were required to earn hours with SMCT by attending performances, assisting with rehearsals and/or technical projects, and researching the impact of theater on building community. While a part of this course, Edith showed great leadership and dedication to this project by attending shows and working on costumes. When the project ended, Edith enrolled her son into the SMCT program. He performed later that spring in “Into the Woods”. Professor Boyle stated “I am so impressed that she internalized the messages of SMCT and carried them into her own family. I think that transaction is the heart of service-learning."
