Assistant Professor of Nursing
Professor Barnes has been at the College of Coastal Georgia since 2012 and showed an interest in service-learning (S-L) before the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program had started teaching designated S-L courses. She has helped to develop two ASN nursing courses and worked to evolve these courses over time. She constantly seeks to find new community partners and uses her creativity to improve projects each semester. Projects Professor Barnes has developed include health and wellness education for the community during First Friday and on the Coastal Georgia campus, and having students perform quality improvement projects with the local hospital. Professor Barnes' interest and involvement in S-L has greatly helped the community and the nursing students at the College.
